Welcome to Civitavecchia

The port of Civitavecchia, the port of Rome, was our port of call on day 4 of our cruise. We arrived here to some wild seas and high winds.

It took a while for us to get docked as this is an extremely busy port with many cruise ships stopping for the day.

We had a leisurely breakfast after I ran around and around the jogging track (trying to get all those shaken martinis out of my system from the night before). We then headed to the township.

We enjoyed walking around the fort.

It's interesting coming to a seaside area in the autumn time when there are hardly any people on the beach.

We enjoyed beach combing for treasures.

We can imagine how crowded the restaurants would be along the streets near the water, but now they are empty and bare.

We walked the length of the beach and past the marina. You can see how many cruise ships are at port.

We stopped at a neat cafe at the top of the cliff. It was a premium location, and we were the only patrons.

It was an enjoyable day where we didn't feel rushed with having to see all the sites of Rome.
