Bike ride around the city

The other weekend we went for a bike ride around the city. It was great that most of the route was on bike tracks, and I'm looking forward to the future when we'll be able to ride everywhere in Auckland without fearing for our lives with getting hit by cars on the road. The bike track at Spaghetti Junction is smooth and nice to ride on.

There are a number of forks on the track and we took the one the leads to Quay St and back through North Wharf.

The light was so great when we got to the bridge. We stopped for Kien to have a runaround.

Then we rode home via Victoria Park for a climb and a dangle.

The fishing trip

2 weeks of school holidays and all routines go out the window! But we are back, and I'm reining this little dude in again. We are back to the points system for earning screen time - and here's his story, which is worth 3 whole points (and I'm being really generous by making a point worth 15 mins instead of 10 minutes set last term).

Wynyard Quarter turned four

...and we were there for the free celebrations. That was over 2 weeks ago, but hey, that's how I roll these days. It's a constant game of catch up, hurrying to get out of the house in the morning, getting food into one small boy's stomach before school, packing a lunchbox of healthy goodness that he will actually eat, reading homework, writing homework, other homework homework, getting home from work at a reasonable hour to spend time with my family, getting the boy to bed at a reasonable hour despite his very loud protestations, dishes...breathe. It's no wonder Doc McStuffins, Team Umizoomi, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Sofia the First, PAW Patrol and all the other Nick Jr/Disney Jr heroes have been Kien's babysitters more often than is "ideal". Oh well, I'll try harder later.

Kien is really good at riding his bike now, which makes going anywhere within a 3km radius so much easier.

There were lots of activities for the kids, so it was fun.

It started to rain and we were just about to head home until we spotted this creative activity to make windmills out of bottles. So we had to stay for that.

It was a good morning.
